Abstract

|
|
A 27-year-old man presented with constitutional symptoms and biochemical evidence of biliary tract obstruction. A mass in the region of the porta hepatis was detected and he underwent laparotomy which revealed conglomerated and isolated
tuberculous
lymphadenopathy of peripancreatic lymph nodes. Complete recovery resulted following the operation and administration of antituberculosis chemotherapy.
The most common causes of biliary-tract obstruction are choledocholithiasis and neoplastic disease. When obstruction is due to a mass sin the region of the head of the pancreas, the more likely etology is malignant disease. We describe a patient
who
presented with biliary-tract obstruction caused by apparently conglomerated and isolated tuberculous lymphadenopathy involving peripancreatic lymph nodes.
